Carbon Capture and Biofuels

This course will offer theoretical and hands-on training in “Carbon Capture & Biofuels”, generating synthetic microalgae via genome editing, RNAi and genetic engineering tools to efficiently capture the carbon from industrial gases and convert the fixed carbon to biofuels and value-added bioproducts.

Topics

Microalgae and cultivation techniques, Engineering of the host microalgal strains from industry perspectives, Carbon capture via synthetic microalgae from rich sources of carbon (10% or above), Valorization of microalgal biomass into biofuels and value-added products.

Participants

Applicants must have a basic working knowledge of algal biology. Preference will be given to pre-doctoral, post-doctoral and early-career researchers/faculties. Registration fees of EURO 200 will be charged for non-ICGEB Member State nationals and Indian participants, which includes training fees, accommodation (twin sharing) and local hospitality.

Funding

No fee is charged to attend this course for nationals of ICGEB Member States. A limited number of grants covering accommodation (twin sharing) and local hospitality for the duration of the course are available to a selected number of nationals of ICGEB Member States (excludes travel/visa charges).
