A new international partnership between ICGEB and the Hungarian Center of Excellence for Molecular Medicine promises stronger and more effective responses to the challenges of aging and cancer.
After two years of strategic planning, ICGEB and the Hungarian Center of Excellence for Molecular Medicine (HCEMM) have formalised collaboration through the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.
The partnership brings together targeted expertise in aging, cancer, and infectious disease research, combining ICGEB’s international reach with HCEMM’s focus on translational medicine and age-related conditions, including cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases as well as infectious co-morbidities.
The collaboration is structured around multiple layers of cooperation, spanning research, infrastructure, funding, and public engagement. Specific areas of focus include cancer diagnostics, infectious diseases, immunology, and molecular modelling.
Researchers will gain access to each other’s specialised platforms, including genomics and proteomics laboratories, advanced imaging facilities, and high-throughput screening technologies. Initiatives are expected to range from exploring genetic tumour signatures to developing novel immunotherapies and applying data-driven approaches in diagnostics.
The partnership also includes coordinated applications for international and European research funding as well as joint public engagement initiatives, promoting visibility through scientific forums and events.
ICGEB and HCEMM are identifying priority areas for future collaboration, including diagnostics, biotechnology, and innovative health approaches. Together, ICGEB and HCEMM, with its expertise in translational medicine and age-related diseases, are creating a framework that links local expertise with global strategy, directing research into real solutions that strengthen healthcare systems and society.
