Public engagement by ICGEB’s scientists and students reaches thousands of young people across three continents each year.
One aspiring scientist, Giulio Prodan, is a 17 year-old youth who first approached ICGEB at the Trieste Next Festival several years ago. This summer he attended a 3-week internship at ICGEB, following experiments under expert guidance of our dedicated scientists.
The aspect that I think contributed most to making this experience so formative was the fact that I was able to perform many of the laboratory activities myself. Having the opportunity to learn in the field and to see and try out even very sophisticated machinery, such as FACS or ultracentrifuges, will be very useful for me to pursue a future career in science. I must say that this internship experience was very formative and enriching for me, both from a professional and human point of view.
In September and October 2024 ICGEB Italy will be at European Researchers’ Night, and at Science Festivals in Trieste and in Genoa, Italy.
