Workshop on AI and Data Science for Advancing Translational Science

The workshop, held from November 11–15, 2025, focused on enhancing bioinformatics capabilities among participating researchers.

The International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) successfully conducted a week-long Hands-on Workshop on “AI and Data Science for Advancing Translational Science” at its New Delhi campus.

The program was designed to build capacity in applying artificial intelligence and data-driven approaches to biological and medical research, with a strong focus on multi-omics and imaging data. Organized by the Translational Bioinformatics Group, the workshop brought together early-career biotech researchers, faculty and clinicians, and from across India and abroad.

Participants representing countries such as Italy and South Africa joined the training, making the workshop a vibrant international learning platform. Renowned experts from leading institutions—including ICMR, ICGEB Trieste, ICGEB Cape Town, CCMB Hyderabad, IIT Delhi, and IISER Bhopal—delivered insightful lectures and guided hands-on sessions on cutting-edge computational methods.

Over five intensive days, attendees explored practical workflows in machine learning, deep learning, multi-omics integration, and biological image analysis, gaining the skills needed to integrate AI tools into diagnostics, therapeutics development, and precision medicine research.

The workshop highlighted ICGEB’s continued commitment to advancing translational science and strengthening global scientific capacity through high-quality training programs.
