Mechanosensitive intracellular pathways as new potential targets in the management of aging pathologies
Host: S. Zacchigna
Abstract coming soon
The onset and progression of aging-related pathologies are characterized by the modification of the mechanical properties of local extracellular matrix (ECM). ECM pathological remodelling exerts negative effects on cell and organ functionality, so that it becomes a player in the progression of the pathology. The discovery that mechanically actuated intracellular pathways are deranged during ECM remodelling and possibly contribute to the outcome of the pathology offers new opportunities in the management of aging-related pathologies and cancer. The understanding of the molecular basis of cellular mechanosensing offers novel opportunities to counteract the negative effects of ECM remodelling and opens new avenues for diseases management.
