Single cell analysis: theory and practice
Host: F. Benvenuti
ISingle-cell sequencing technologies allow the analysis of transcriptomic, genomic, epigenetic information of individual cells to characterise cellular heterogeneity and evolutionary relationships. Indeed, this analysis overcome limitations of standard bulk sequencing methods which can provide only an average omic profile of many cells. We will discuss the technological improvements in this field describing the most common approaches available to perform single cell analysis. We will also introduce single-cell sequencing applications, such as describing lineage specification and cellular heterogeneity in disease pathogenesis. Our presentation will be followed by a practical demo of the 10x Genomics microfluidic platform Chromium.
