Participants

PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and technicians in the life sciences from academia or industry. Both beginners seeking new skills in fluorescence microscopy and experts aiming to strengthen existing knowledge will benefit from this course.

Registration

Participation is subject to selection. Only a limited number of participants are admitted to this Course.

Selection will be based on applicants’ CV and potential benefit for their career, geographical and gender balance, as well as priority order in the registration, will also be considered.

Selected applicants will be notified and will need to finalise their registration with the payment of the relevant registration fee.

Students*: €200
Postdocs and Academics: €300
Industry: €400

* Participants eligible for “Students” will need to upload the Proof of qualifying Student status, which is a document provided by the University/Affiliated Institute on headed paper, dated, and stamped or signed. Please note that you must be enrolled at the date of the Course to be eligible for the student fee.
Please be informed that if the document is missing, your payment and your participation to the course will NOT be confirmed.

Registration fee includes attendance at the meeting, meals as foreseen in the meeting programme and access to the instruments for hands-on experience.

Cancellations: once the fee is paid, should you need to cancel your participation, the Organising Secretariat must be notified, in writing, no later than 2 November 2026 (midday Trieste time) and will be subject to a handling fee of Euro 50. After this date refunds cannot be guaranteed.

Funding

A limited number of grants to cover the accommodation (twin share) for the duration of the event and waive the Registration Fee will be available for students and junior scientists who are nationals of the  ICGEB Member States.

Selection criteria

ICGEB-supported participants will be selected based on the following criteria: Scientific relevance of the practical course to the applicant’s current research; Priority to applicants conducting research in developing countries; Date of application.
Non-supported participants will be selected based on: Scientific relevance of the practical course to the applicant’s research activities; Date of application.

This transparent and merit-based selection process ensures equitable access, encourages participation from scientists in developing countries, and maximizes the impact of the training.
