Metabolic perturbations in lung cancer: from tumor cells to tumor- associated neutrophils

Hosts: F. Benvenuti

The deregulation of cellular energetics is a recognised hallmark of cancer, often attributed to changes occurring in tumor cells. In our laboratory, we are using a combination of approaches and models to evaluate the importance of these cells and how they communicate with non-tumor cells of the immune microenvironment. Focusing on tumor-associated neutrophils in non-small cell lung cancer, I will present how glucose metabolism is rewired in these short- lived cells, endowing them with tumor-supporting capacities. Hopefully, a better functional understanding of the innate immune component of tumors will enable to obtain new targets to combat cancer.
