The symposium will take a translational approach to highlight the burden of cancers driven by viral Infections and discuss relevant oncogenic viruses research and implementation of interventions in sub-Saharan Africa. The scientific meeting will have thematic seminars and abstract driven presentations as well as a practical workshop targeted at post-graduate students.
Topics
Epidemiology of leading oncogenic viruses in sub-Saharan Africa; Human Papillomavirus related cancer research; Hepatitis B & C related cancer research; Gamma Herpesviruses (Epstein Barr and Kaposi’s Sarcoma) related cancers; Implementation research on elimination of oncogenic viruses (prevention & treatment).
Participants
Researchers; Clinicians, Diagnostic pathologists and interventional imaging practitioners; Scientists; Postgraduate students in basic and applied sciences.
Non-sponsored participants will need to pay a participation fee of Euro 75.
Funding
A limited number of grants covering travel, registration fee and accommodation will be provided to selected participants who are ICGEB Member states nationals, residing outside of South Africa. Applicants are encouraged to submit abstracts as this will be an abstract driven meeting.
