This symposium will address recent advances in ALS/FTD and related neurodegenerative diseases research, focusing on genetics, proteinopathy, neuroinflammation, clinical studies, and biomarkers. Emphasis will be placed on patients, relevant cellular and animal models, as well as big data and AI-driven approaches. This will also support regional initiatives in early diagnosis and precision medicine.

ALS/FTD genetics and mechanisms; Proteinopathy in ALS/FTD; Immunity in ALS/FTD; Clinical studies in ALS/FTD; Biomarkers and emerging therapies in ALS/FTD and related brain disorders; Computational and multi-omics approaches in ALS/FTD and related brain disorders.
Participants
Participants should have a background in molecular or clinical neuroscience (neurodegeneration, neuroimmunology and neurodevelopment and related fields). Active involvement in neurodegeneration research or teaching is encouraged. Postdocs, clinical residents, PhD and MSc students are encouraged to participate. Submission of an abstract for a poster or oral presentation is required.
Funding
A limited number of grants covering accommodation, meals and social events during the symposium will be provided to selected participants who are ICGEB Member states nationals, residing outside of Croatia, particularly young researchers from low- and middle-income countries.
