The NextGen Metabolomics Data Mining Workshop offers a comprehensive exploration of data mining techniques specifically tailored for liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS) metabolomics. The program features a combination of lectures and hands-on sessions, covering both fundamental and advanced topics essential for effective metabolomic data analysis.

On the first day, the event will include:

• 1 keynote lecture
• 4 plenary lectures delivered by leading metabolomics scientists
• 2 technical talks
• A poster presentation session featuring participant contributions on various topics in metabolomics

Topics

Introduction to Data Mining Techniques in Metabolomics; Quality Control and Preprocessing in Metabolomics Data Mining; Advanced Statistical Methods for Metabolomic Data Analysis; Machine Learning Applications in Metabolomics; Visualization of Metabolomic Data: Tools and Techniques; Open Science Practices in Metabolomics Research.

Participants

Applicants should be actively involved in metabolomics research, particularly using LC-MS techniques. Candidates must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as biochemistry, biology, or chemistry. Practical experience in metabolomics or related areas (e.g., laboratory work or research projects) is required.

Registration Fees:

• 1-day symposium poster presenter: MYR 200
• 1-day symposium participant only: MYR 100
• 4-day symposium & workshop: MYR 600

A 10% discount will be offered to groups of three or more participants who register for the full 4-day programme.

Funding

A limited number of grants are available for students and early-career scientists who are nationals of ICGEB Member States residing outside Malaysia. These grants will cover:

• Local transportation
• Accommodation (twin-sharing basis) for the duration of the event
• Full waiver of the registration fee

Please note: This funding does not include airfare. Participants are responsible for covering all international travel expenses to and from Malaysia.

ICGEB-supported participants will be selected based on the following criteria:

• Scientific relevance of the practical course to the applicant’s current research
• Priority given to applicants conducting research in developing countries
• Date of application

Non-supported participants will be selected based on:

• Scientific relevance of the practical course to the applicant’s research activities
• Date of application

This transparent, merit-based selection process ensures equitable access, encourages participation from scientists in developing countries, and maximizes the overall impact of the training.
