ICGEB and “The Goals of Science”

A series of videos that recount stories on basic research in biotechnology and the positive impact on sustainable development for the good of society.

ICGEB is a unique Scientific Research Organisation working in Biotechnology and has structured its activities around six of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda: zero world hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, clean and affordable energy, industrial and infrastructure innovation, and collaboration for the goals. The goal for gender equality is present across all its activities.

The complete playlist “The Goals of Science” comprises 12 videos: 6 episodes (in Italian and English from ICGEB Trieste), 3 episodes from ICGEB New Delhi, and 3 from ICGEB Cape Town, collectively representing a body of work that showcases our research, as a single Organisation across world continents, for sustainable development.

The “Goals of Science” is a project funded by the Autonomous Region Friuli-Venezia Giulia (and distributed with partners Vicino/Lontano, the Municipality of Trieste and the Pietro Pittini Foundation), which aims to emphasise the contribution of the ICGEB in concrete terms to sustainable global development.

From ICGEB Trieste, Italy we follow six success stories featuring our researchers, scientists, and students who explain how basic research can lead to solutions which create a better world in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN Agenda 2030 and the ICGEB Strategic Plan.

The full documentary, first screened at the Trieste Next Festival of Scientific Research in Piazza Unità d’Italia. The episodes – in English and Italian – are now available on ICGEB’s YouTube channel.

ICGEB is also contributing and working with partners IYBSSD / UNESCO for the International Year of Basic Science for Sustainable Development. This video series has been shared on their website along with those of the many partner Organisations.
