Fighting antimicrobial resistance – the role of innate and adaptive immune responses

Discovery of new agents to treat antimicrobial resistant pathogens has slowed down, leaving biologicals, immune modulators and natural products as safe alternatives. This is a 4-day meeting on the potential of the innate and adaptive immune responses to fight resistant infections. The meeting includes talks by invited speakers and oral presentation of selected accepted abstracts.

Topics

Identifying antimicrobial resistance targets for immunological therapy; Immune modulation, including natural immune modulation; Raising monoclonal antibodies/nanobodies; Delivery of immunological therapy; Technology transfer from the bench to the market (Industry session).

Participants

Basic microbiology and immunology knowledge is required. Participants must be involved in teaching/research in topics relevant to the workshop theme for maximum benefit. Submission of an abstract for poster/oral presentation is mandatory for travel grant applicants and is encouraged for all participants. Participants from ICGEB member states are waived the registration fees but are expected to cover their travel, accommodation and airport transportation.

A course fee of €100 for students and early career researchers and €500 for senior researchers applies to non-grantees, except for nationals of ICGEB member states, all are expected to cover their travel, accommodation and airport transportation.

Funding

A limited number of grants covering accommodation, registration fees, ground transportation and local hospitality are available for students and early career researchers who are nationals of ICGEB member states residing outside of Egypt. Additionally, travel support (up to €400) is available for participants that are from ICGEB Member State that are currently in the UN list of least developed countries.
