The Enzyme Manufacturing Masterclass is a one-week hands-on course, teaching how to produce essential enzymes for molecular biology, such as DNA Polymerases for PCR, using low-cost methods and materials. The course aims to reduce costs and enhance the accessibility of essential research tools, empowering local researchers to conduct high-quality research independently of external suppliers.

PCR basics, Primer design, Assembling DNA plasmids, Culturing bacteria, Recombinant protein expression, Testing protein purity and function
Participants
Requirements:
Pipetting and lab safety knowledge, Familiarity with basic molecular biology (PCR/electrophoresis, cloning), Participants must be involved in teaching/research that can benefit from access to low-cost reagents and protein expression/purification techniques, and submit current project or ideas for a poster session.
Registration fee: €500 (includes teaching, materials and hospitality, but excludes travel/accommodation).
Funding
A limited number of grants covering travel, accommodation, and local hospitality are available for students/young researchers from LDCs in ICGEB Member States, who will be exempt from registration fees. A course fee of €500 applies to non-grantees, except for nationals of ICGEB Member States, and all are expected to cover their expenses.
