This meeting will convene the Steering Committee for the development of the IUCN De-extinction Guidelines for Conservation Benefit. It will provide an opportunity for invited experts to discuss the scope, key questions and overall structure of the guidelines, with the aim of supporting a coherent and scientifically grounded framework. The meeting is organised in the context of an international collaboration under IUCN leadership and contributes to the ongoing development of guidance on the application of de-extinction and related biotechnologies for conservation purposes. The meeting is hosted by the ICGEB, contributing to the project through its Regulatory Science Group.
