Reproducibility and reporting of negative data in cardiovascular research

Abstract
Dr Davor Pavlovic is Associate Professor in Cardiovascular Sciences at the University of Birmingham, where he leads the Cardiac Diseases Theme. His primary research interest is to understand molecular mechanisms of ion transport in the heart and how these may be targeted to treat cardiovascular disease. He is Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology Plus and President-Elect of the European Section of the International Society for Heart Research (ISHR). In this talk, he will explore the critical importance of reproducibility and the reporting of negative data in cardiovascular research. Drawing on recent work on SGLT2 inhibitors and endogenous cardiotonic steroids in atrial fibrillation, he will show how non-confirmatory findings can challenge dogma and highlight the need for transparent reporting.
