AI revolutionizes data science and biology by processing complex information, enabling pattern detection in large datasets, advancing genomic research, accelerating drug discovery, and driving efficiency in scientific experimentation, particularly in developing countries.  This workshop aims to equip participants with practical skills for applying AI techniques in the biological field, including data analysis, pattern detection, and experimental design.

Setting Up Local AI Models; AI Models for Programmers in Everyday Tasks; AI Models for Structural Biology and Drug Discovery; AI Models in Metagenomics; AI Models in Signal Processing; AI Models for Image Processing; AI Models for Classification in Data Science.

Registration

Participation is subject to selection. Only a limited number of participants are admitted to this Course.

Selection will be based on applicants’ CV and potential benefit for their career.

Geographical and gender balance, as well as priority order in the registration, will also be considered.

During registration you will be asked to upload a Motivation Letter where you should:

  • Introduce yourself: Provide an overview of who you are, including you academic/professional background, relevant skills and experiences
  • Explain why you are interested in the Course: Describe what sparked your interest in AI applications in biological data and bioinformatics, and how this Course aligns with your goals and aspirations
  • Highlight your strengths and qualifications: Emphasize your relevant knowledge, skills, or achievements that make you a strong candidate for the program
  • Describe relevant projects or experiences: Describe any relevant projects, research papers, or experiences you’ve had in AI, biological data analysis, or bioinformatics that demonstrate your skills and interests
  • Explain how the course will help you achieve your goals: Explain how participating in this Practical course of AI in biological data and bioinformatics will help you achieve your long-term career objectives or personal development goals

Selected applicants will be notified and will need to finalise their registration with payment of the relevant registration fee.

Students*: €200
Postdocs and Academics: €300
Industry: €400

Participants eligible for “Students” will need to upload the Proof of qualifying Student status, which is a document provided by the University/Affiliated Institute on headed paper, dated, and stamped or signed. Please note that you must be enrolled at the date of the Course to be eligible for the student fee.
Please be informed that if the document is missing, your payment and your participation to the course will NOT be confirmed.

Registration fee includes attendance at the meeting and meals as foreseen in the meeting programme.

Funding

A limited number of grants to cover the accommodation (twin share) for the duration of the event and waive the Registration Fee will be available for students and junior scientists who are nationals of the  ICGEB Member States.
