From single species to complex communities: microbial genomics to unveil the bacteria skills
Host: L. Banks
Dr Benítez-Páez is a biologist with a specialisation in Biotechnology, master degree in Biochemistry and PhD in Molecular Biology. He has developed great expertise in the field of microbial genomics since his PhD training. He posses advanced skills in bacterial genomics encompassing cutting-edge routines from experimental to data analysis. The latest years Dr Benítez-Páez has devoted to human microbiome research applied to human health. In such a manner, he is a member of notable European funded microbiome-based research projects, where his knowledge in massive sequencing approaches, data analyses, and molecular biology have been pivotal to advance in the understanding of the diet-microbiota-host interactions underlying the health and disease in humans. Dr Benítez-Páez is also associate editor of Frontiers in Microbiology and Frontiers in Nutrition journals as well as a permanent member of the reviewer panel of Microbiome journal.
