The CSI effect
Host: E. Buratti
Abstract: A brief historical overview on major scientific contributions to law enforcement efforts which helped detectives to solve crimes and face cases under a new perspective. In-depth analysis of some of the most commonly used molecular biology techniques which are now part of the crime scene investigation used by tech-detectives and which radically changed both juridical and public sensitivity to the matter. Finally, some real case studies are going to be dissected to understand how resolutive the DNA analysis has become in solving heinous crimes and how science fiction is not that far from
real science.
