The ICGEB aims at strengthening the research capability of its Members through a comprehensive training programme and approach to promoting biotechnology internationally. The active participation of ICGEB Member States nationals in the ICGEB Meetings and Courses is therefore highly encouraged. For more information on the terms of participation and funding opportunities for this event please access the meeting website or contact the local organisers directly.

This 3-day Workshop aims to provide an introduction and application of genome editing and new breeding technologies to researchers and students working on crop improvement or genomic selection of livestock, and help them familiarize with recent developments. Scientists having substantial experience in both fields will deliver lectures and will have interactions with participants. The workshop will also cover regulatory framework for development and commercialization of these technologies.

Topics

New breeding technologies, large scale genomics and genomic selection in crop and livestock breeding, CRISPR/Cas9 for crop improvement, Cas13a applications, regulatory frame for approval of genome edited crops, high throughput phenomics.

Participants

Students, researchers and professionals preferrably from Molecular biology, Biological sciences, Plant breeding and genetics are encouraged to apply. Students from other relevant backgrounds are also welcome.

Funding

Participants are expected to cover their own living costs. A limited number of grants will be available for nationals of ICGEB Member States to cover twin-share accommodation, meals and local travel. Limited travel grants will also be available for participants from OIC Member States.
