The ICGEB aims at strengthening the research capability of its Members through a comprehensive training programme and approach to promoting biotechnology internationally. The active participation of ICGEB Member States nationals in the ICGEB Meetings and Courses is therefore highly encouraged. For more information on the terms of participation and funding opportunities for this event please access the meeting website or contact the local organisers directly.

Transcription factors (TFs) govern the expression of genes and are commonly deregulated in cancer. The course will focus both on new insights into fundamentals of gene expression control and on the discussion of how these advances impact our understanding of various biological processes and signal transduction during cancer development. This course also aims to cover recent progress toward development of therapeutics targeting transcriptional and chromatin regulators.

Topics

Transcription factors and cofactors with special focus on the role of NF-ĸB, TBX2/3, AP-1, STAT 3 and Erg transcription factors during cancer development and therapy, transcription factors and chromatin modifiers in cancer, genetic and epigenetic interactions in cancer, targeting transcription factors in cancer, signal transduction and regulatory networks, transcription factor interactions.

Participants

Admittance to the course is subject to selection and payment of a registration fee (US$100). Participants should have working knowledge of cellular biology and cancer and should be involved in research where the potential application of the Course material would be useful. Preference will be given to Ph.D. students, postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty. Registration for the course is limited to 50 participants. Requests for registration will be reviewed on the basis of academic merit and geographic distribution.

Funding

A limited number of grants (10) are available to cover accommodation (twin share) for the duration of the Course for a selected numbers of nationals of ICGEB Member States. Travel is NOT funded. The awardees will be selected among the accepted participants on the basis of merit.
