The main objective of the workshop is to acquaint the participants new approaches to discover effective drugs and vaccine candidates in major infectious diseases, Malaria and tuberculosis. The workshop will consist of sessions of scientific lectures by scientists/experts of international repute, and practical sessions to demonstrate new techniques in malaria and TB research.  In addition, participants will be able to present their research work in the form of posters; this will give them opportunity to discuss their research with the experts in the field.

Topics

Genomics and Proteomics studies to identify new drug-targets and vaccine candidates; Cell Biology and Cell Cycle regulation in Plasmodium and Mycobacterium; Novel strategies targeting drug-resistance in malaria and tuberculosis; Clinical studies in malaria and tuberculosis.

Participants

Research fellows from ICGEB member states working in the field of infectious diseases and drug/vaccine development will be selected from all the applications. Preference will be given to PhD students or young researchers. Research fellows from INDIA working in the field of infectious diseases and drug/vaccine development will be selected from all the applications.  Preference will be given to students or young researchers, and those who have published at least one research paper in a peer reviewed journal.

Funding

No registration fee is charged for participants from ICGEB member states to attend this workshop. Participants are expected to cover their own travel and living costs. A limited number of grants, covering accommodation (twin share) and local hospitality for the duration of the workshop, are available to a selected number of nationals of ICGEB Member States. The available grants will be allocated in order of priority, according to the ranking achieved in the selection process. Participants have to cover their own travel and associated expenses.
