Report from the 28th session of the Board

The Twenty-eighth session of the ICGEB Board of Governors was held online from Trieste on 17-18 May 2022. The session was attended by over 120 participants from 54 Member States, 7 Observer Countries and 15 Observer Organisations.

Comprising representatives from each ICGEB Member State, the Board of Governors convened to review the Report of the Director-General on the General Programme and Scientific Research of the Centre (also summarised in the 2021 Annual Report), to approve the General Programme and Budget for 2022, and the Report of the External Auditor.

The Governors welcomed new Member, Paraguay, into the growing ICGEB constituency, as well as the advanced stages in the establishment of new ICGEB Regional Research Centres in Kenya and Turkey.

The Board endorsed the Report of the Council of Scientific Advisers, as presented by the Chair, Prof. Roger Beachy, following it’s session to review the scientific research at the ICGEB New Delhi Component in April 2022. This year, the Board also deliberated on the recruitment of the Director of the New Delhi Component, and on the election of Members to the CSA.

The 29th session of the Board has been scheduled to take place on Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 May 2023, in presence, in one of the ICGEB Host Countries, at a venue to be advised.
