Funded by the Regione FVG under the LR 45/2017 programme. The project has awarded to the Biotechnology Development Unit Group at ICGEB, headed by Natasa Skoko.
The project received EUR 3000K funding and is exclusive to the ICGEB.
Upgrade of the laboratory dedicated to the development of biosimilars at the ICGEB.
The Biotechnology Development Unit activity focuses on the in-house research and development of low-cost processes for the production of biopharmaceuticals and subsequent transfer of know-how to companies or research institutions located in ICGEB Member States. Thanks to the contribution of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the ICGEB now intends to further qualify its offer at regional and international level through the creation of a new laboratory for the development of biopharmaceuticals in line with the principles of Good Laboratory Practices/Good Manufacturing Practices (GLP/GMP). ICGEB upgraded facility will offer better practical training, more reliable quality control for biopharmaceuticals/biosimilars in GLP conditions and maintenance of GMP recombinant cell lines for bioprocesses. Availability of this kind of scientific support service in Trieste will represent a significant incentive for the development of biosimilars locally and internationally.
