PREFER Development of a bio-product for the treatment of difficult wounds

Funded by the Regione FVG under the POR-FESR 2014-2020 programme. The project has awarded to the Cardiovascular Biology Group at ICGEB, headed by Serena Zacchigna.

The project received EUR 232.228K funding and in the collaboration with VivaBioCell and Università degli Studi di Trieste.

The project aims at developing an innovative therapeutic approach for the therapy of critical wounds, based on the expansion of autologous human endothelial cells in a bioreactor. In particular, the project wishes to demonstrate that these cells, in combination with various scaffolds, promote the re-vascularization and healing of skin wounds in a pre-clinical model of peripheral ischemia.
