From Cryopreservation to Repositories: Advancing Mouse Reproductive Cell Storage

The course will provide theoretical and practical training on essential techniques for the
generation, cryopreservation and biobanking of mouse gametes and embryos, with a focus of setting up a program for establishing a mutant mouse repository network in Brazil as a national and regional programme service.

Topics

Fundamentals of Cryopreservation and Biobanking; Embryo cryopreservation and storage protocols; Techniques for eliminating pathogens via embryo transfer; Quality control; Best practices from global repositories (EMMA, KOMP, CARD); Generation of new genetically modified strains.

Participants

Preference will be given to applicants working in generation, cryopreservation, biobanking, genome editing, and laboratory animal science (LAS). Candidates must be actively involved in a recognized research laboratory or institution with ongoing projects related to the event topics. Preference for candidates who demonstrate the possibility of future collaborations between institutions in the region and globally.

Funding

A limited number of grants covering accommodation and local expenses during the course will be provided to selected participants who are ICGEB Member states nationals, residing outside of Brazil. Participants are expected to cover their own travel costs and local hospitality.
