Course “Training Course on the Molecular Microbiology and Microbiomes of Agricultural and Industrial Waste Utilizations”

The ICGEB aims at strengthening the research capability of its Members through a comprehensive training programme and approach to promoting biotechnology internationally. The active participation of ICGEB Member States nationals in the ICGEB Meetings and Courses is therefore highly encouraged.

This course will cover the applications of molecular microbiology and computational biology tools for the study of microbial diversity and functional potentials in the agricultural and Industrial waste environments. The course will feature lectures and hands-on practical sessions on DNA sequencing and analysis, data visualizations and the related statistical methods, with a special session on science diplomacy.

Biodegradation and bioremediation, Bioenergy, Next generation sequencing, Microbiomes, Metagenomics.

Participants

Researchers working on the molecular microbiology of biodegradation and bioenergy generation from Industrial and agricultural wastes, and environmental microblomes; Early career scientists and PhD students are highly encouraged to apply; The course fee for participants is EUR 130, which covers local hospitality. Although it is not mandatory, it is highly encouraged for the self funded participants to prepare a poster of their research for display and presentation during the training.

Funding

Participants are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation expenses; A limited number of grants covering course fee, travel cost, and local hospitality throughout the course will be provided for selected PhD students and early career scientists (below 40 years old) who are nationals of ICGEB Member States. It is mandatory for the selected funded applicants to prepare a poster of their research for display and presentation during the training.
