Hands on training on Infectious Diseases detection methods

The ICGEB aims at strengthening the research capability of its Members through a comprehensive training programme and approach to promoting biotechnology internationally. The active participation of ICGEB Member States nationals in the ICGEB Meetings and Courses is therefore highly encouraged.

This training will introduce the main concepts of sequence bioinformatics applied to next generation sequencing and proteomics data. The training will contain theoretical and practical sessions on genomics, metagenomics, gene expression analysis, as well as proteomic analysis.


Hands on course in sequencing different viruses; Assembly of SARS-CoV-2 genome; Assembly of Influenza genome; Data Exploration of Influenza Genome; General lectures related to genomic surveillance.


Researchers working in the topic of genomics, metagenomics, gene expression analysis, as well as, proteomic analysis. Early career scientist and PhD students are highly encourage to participate.


A limited number of grants covering travel cost, and local hospitality throughout the course will be provided for PhD students and Scientist who are nationals of ICGEB Members State and from Least Developed Country (LDC). Participants are expected to cover their own travelling expenses.
