On 7 July 2023, World Bioproduct Day, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology and Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office, launched the #iChooseLiFE campaign at ICGEB New Delhi – to promote biomanufacturing and the use of bioproducts.
The meeting, opened by Dr. Alka Sharma, Senior Advisor/Scientist-‘H’, DBT and ICGEB Appointed Governor, and Dr. Rajesh S. Gokhale, Secretary, DBT and Chairman, Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), outlined the initiatives of DBT in biomanufacturing. Dr. Jitendra Kumar, Managing Director of BIRAC also gave an address.
Talks by Dr. Ramesh V. Sonti, Director, ICGEB New Delhi and distinguished speakers from IIT Bombay, AIIMS New Delhi, NCL Pune, the Human Space Programme (DHSP), ISRO HQ, as well as Praj Industries Pune made for interesting discussion on fostering biomanufacturing initiatives across the nation.
#iChooseLiFE represents the country’s policy priorities for high-performance Biomanufacturing.
