The ICGEB aims at strengthening the research capability of its Members through a comprehensive training programme and approach to promoting biotechnology internationally. The active participation of ICGEB Member States nationals in the ICGEB Meetings and Courses is therefore highly encouraged. The theme of SABC 2018 “Biotechnology: Role in Regional Development” underlines the need to develop biotechnology based products both for the market and for the public good in South Asia. The meeting aims to propote such initiatives through transfer of knowledge and publicising best practices in the region.

Genomics, synthetic biology, bioethics, biotechnology policy, IPR, big data, industry
Participants
Researchers in area of biotechnology with potential to contribute to development. Students and junior researchers are encouraged to participate. The conference will have a poster session.
Funding
Participants are expected to cover their own costs for the conference. A limited number of grants covering registration fees and accommodation (twin shared) will be available for a selected number of students/junior scientists who are nationals of ICGEB Member States. Partial support for travel would be available from the organisers for a limited number of students.
