The Interagency Task Team of the United Nations that works on Gender and Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) has produced its latest brochure featuring ICGEB in an effort to address the gender gap.
Together with 13 other UN specialised agencies, ICGEB has contributed to the latest publication on SDG5 – achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls by the Gender & Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) Group of the United Nations Interagency Task Team (IATT) on STI for the Sustainable Development Goals.
As part of the UN Interagency Task Team, ICGEB is mandated to promote coordination, coherence, and cooperation within the UN System on STI related matters, enhancing synergy and efficiency, in particular to enhance capacity-building initiatives.
ICGEB has highlighted its PhD and Postdoctoral training scheme for WomEn ScienTists in AfRica (WE-STAR), the EMPOWER Programme and the South African Women in Biotechnology Programme, CRP grants, the International Seminar Programme and the outreach activities specifically for women and girls in STEM.
As part of the initiative, ICGEB was represented at the “Women in STI” Exhibit, 2-5 May 2023, at the UN Headquarters in New York.
Amongst the videos shown was the Goals of Science video with Dr.Natasa Skoko, Group Leader, Biotechnology Development at ICGEB entitled “Innovation starts here”.
