The ICGEB–DRTC FLY–NEUROCAN Workshop is a 10-day intensive program designed to
advance research in neuroscience and cancer. In week 1, 15 participants will focus on
neuroscience, while week 2 will engage another 15 participants in cancer research. Across both
weeks, a total of 30 early-career and established scientists will gain comprehensive theoretical
knowledge and hands-on expertise using Drosophila melanogaster as a powerful model
organism.
Topics
Participants are expected to select one out of the two available tracks: Neurodegenerative Disease (Week 1) and Cancer (Week 2)
Translational Insights & Clinical Relevance; Drosophila Genetics, Genetic Manipulations; Modeling Parkinson’s Disease, ALS & Cancer in Drosophila; Advanced Imaging & Data Analysis; Functional and Molecular Assays in Neurodegeneration and Cancer; Tumour Microenvironment and Signaling Pathways; Omics Approaches in Disease Modelling.
Participants
Minimum of an MSc in biomedical sciences. Quality of application, including vision, purpose and need for practical hands-on experience. Registration fee of €100 (Euro).
Funding
We will ensure that five (5) ICGEB grants will be available to cover accommodation, meals and all related training costs for nationals of ICGEB Member States residing outside of Nigeria and 5 within Nigeria. The theoretical sessions will be hybrid, attracting over 300 participants from all over the world.
