Course “Genomics/Metagenomics and NGS approaches for discovering new enzymes useful for industrial applications”

17 – 28 October 2021, Sfax, Tunisia

The ICGEB aims at strengthening the research capability of its Members through a comprehensive training programme and approach to promoting biotechnology internationally. The active participation of ICGEB Member States nationals in the ICGEB Meetings and Courses is therefore highly encouraged. For more information on the terms of participation and funding opportunities for this event please access the meeting website or contact the local organisers directly.

Deadline for receipt of applications:
1 June 2021

  • Applicants must register on the ICGEB Service Gateway (ISG) to obtain access to the online submission platform.
  • Data entered for registration to the ISG portal (name, surname, gender, date of birth, nationality and E-mail address) will automatically be included in the applicant’s request to attend the event – “Personal data” section, and will not be editable.
  • For any problems with ISG access, please contact the ICGEB IT support service at [email protected]

The Course tailors to a much less-endowed area of NGS-based genomics and metagenomics as an alternative approach to conventional microbial enzymes screening. It opts to apply the functional metagenomic strategy to discover new potential genes and enzymes for some industrial applications. It will allow sharing the knowledge in metagenomics, NGS technology and sequencing data analysis.

Metagenomic bank, Functional metagenomics for enzyme discovering, Genomics and Metagenomics, Next generation sequencing, Sequence analysis and annotation.

Researchers and students involved in the fields of molecular microbiology and industrial enzymes as well as sequences determination (NGS) and analysis. Poster sessions will be also organized.

Participants are expected to cover their own travel costs. A limited number of grants, covering accommodation (twin share) and local hospitality for the duration of the workshop, are available to a selected number of nationals of ICGEB Member States.
