Latest Advances in Genome Editing and ART Technologies in Laboratory Animals

The course will provide comprehensive training on use of genome editing (CRISPR) technologies in laboratory animals (mouse and zebrafish) and assisted reproductive technologies (ART) in mice. Topics include (i) selection of the genome editing strategy and design of the sgRNAs/ssDNAs, (ii) preparation and delivery of gene targeting tools into mouse and zebrafish embryos through microinjection or electroporation, (iii) production of mouse embryos by in vitro fertilization, manipulation and cryopreservation of mouse embryos and sperm.
By combining theoretical lectures with hands-on practical sessions, this course will equip researchers and scientists with essential skills in genome editing. It will also encourage collaborations between regional laboratories, enable adoption and implementation of these advanced technologies.

Participants

Researchers and technicians working with animal models and genome editing technologies. Early career scientists and PhD students are highly encouraged to participate. Registration fee is 200 Euros (5 days accommodation in double room, breakfast and lunch is included). Participants are expected to cover their own travelling expenses.

Funding

A limited grant covering course fee, and local hospitality throughout the course will be provided to selected participants, that are students/young researchers below 35 years of age and nationals of ICGEB member states. A limited partial travel grant will be given to selected participants, that are students/young researchers below 35 years of age and nationals of LDC countries.
