Education at the Centre of the G7 in Trieste, Italy, 27-29 June 2024

The Italian Minister of Education, Giuseppe Valditara, chairs G7 Ministers’ Meeting on Education in Trieste.

Min. Valditara greeted the Heads of Delegation from the G7 nations in Piazza Unita’ d’Italia in the heart of Trieste today. Representatives from Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America together with officials from the Ukraine, the EU Commission, OECD, UNESCO, and the African Union, which this year celebrates the Year of Education, are in attendance.

Addressing the press, Minister Valditara emphasised the importance of the Research institutes of Trieste as a fitting context for the meeting, the city’s history of diversity, and the need to address the specific needs of students to ensure that no one is left behind. “The agenda for today’s meeting will focus on concrete actions to deepen initiatives and support for education through personalised learning approaches,” he stated, adding “This will include support for innovative education, and international educational cooperation also with African countries, through stronger partnerships.”

ICGEB commented, “Our Programmes to support advanced education and capacity building in Africa are timely and are gaining traction. Thanks to the firm support of the Italian Government, and a consolidated network of Host and Member countries (including 24 African nations), we encourage partnerships to enhance student training, exchanges, and regional science dissemination activities for young learners.
