The ICGEB aims at strengthening the research capability of its Members through a comprehensive training programme and approach to promoting biotechnology internationally. The active participation of ICGEB Member States nationals in the ICGEB Meetings and Courses is therefore highly encouraged. Objectives of the course are: (i) to present the current situation of microbial inoculants and future perspectives, with a special focus on African countries; (ii) to inform t he audience about the principles of production, formulation and applicaion of microbial inoculants; (iii) to discuss the inoculants based on the most commonly used microbes and their use in major crops; (iv) to overview the potential of new generations inoculants as a plant growth promoters and biological control agents.

Microbial inoculants for agriculture, Bradyrhizobium japonicum and its uses, microbial inoculants – crops interactions, plant growth promotion (biofertilizers), biological control of plant pathogens

Participants

Scientists involved in research related to the study and development of microbial inoculants, biofertilizers and biological control agents. Preference will be given to applicants from developing countries which are ICGEB Members. Participants will be invited to give a 15 minutes oral presentation during the course.

Funding

No fee is charged to attend this Course. Participants are expected to cover their own travel and living costs. A limited number of grants, covering accommodation (twin share) and local hospitality for the duration of the Course, are available to 20 nationals of ICGEB Member States. The available grants will be allocated in order of priority, according to the ranking achieved in the selection process
