Course “Latin American Biology of Parasitism – LatAmBoP 2022”

The ICGEB aims at strengthening the research capability of its Members through a comprehensive training programme and approach to promoting biotechnology internationally. This course will cover important aspects of modern research on apicomplexan parasites and will be divided in lectures given by leading experts in each field, and two distinct ex perimental modules. The focus of lectures is broad and intends to be multidisciplinary covering relevant topics on pathogenesis and treatment of apicomplexan diseases, molecular and cellular biology of apicomplexan parasites, bioinformatics and database mining, immunology and animal models, genotyping and drug discovery/drug resistance.

Basic cell biology and molecular biology, Genetic diversity and genotyping, Bioinformatics and database mining, Immunology and animal models, Drug discovery and drug resistance.

Participants

Researchers holding a BSc or equivalent in a relevant field (biology,biochemistry, medicine,veterinary medicine, public health or epidemiology). Citizens or permanent residents of a Latin American country. Students and Junior Scientists are welcome to attend.

Funding

Participants are expected to cover their own travel costs. A limited number of participants will be granted with travel support (requests will be analysed case by case). Support for accommodation and local transportation will be provided for all participants from abroad.
