Course “Latin American Biology of Parasitism – LatAmBoP 2022”

This course will cover important aspects of modern research on apicomplexan parasites and will be divided in lectures given by leading experts in each field, and two distinct ex perimental modules. The focus of lectures is broad and intends to be multidisciplinary covering relevant topics on pathogenesis and treatment of apicomplexan diseases, molecular and cellular biology of apicomplexan parasites, bioinformatics and database mining, immunology and animal models, genotyping and drug discovery/drug resistance.

Basic cell biology and molecular biology, Genetic diversity and genotyping, Bioinformatics and database mining, Immunology and animal models, Drug discovery and drug resistance.

Participants

Everyone applying for this event is requested to:
1. Upload a file that includes the following information:

  • What is your perceived English level (Written, Spoken; poor, good, very good, excellent/fluent)
  • Indicate 1 or 2 techniques you would like the course to focus on among the following: Genetic manipulation/CRISPR, Immunology, Epidemiology, Cell biology, Microscopy (confocal, live, ultrastructural expansion), Bioinformatics or “Other” (please specify)

2. Upload a CV using the template provided here

Researchers holding a BSc or equivalent in a relevant field (biology,biochemistry, medicine,veterinary medicine, public health or epidemiology). Citizens or permanent residents of a Latin American country. Students and Junior Scientists are welcome to attend.

Funding

Participants are expected to cover their own travel costs. A limited number of participants will be granted with travel support (requests will be analysed case by case). Support for accommodation and local transportation will be provided for all participants from abroad.

Whoever would like to apply for travel financial support MUST additionally add to the application form an attachment (no more than 1 page) explaining how they will benefit from the support, and what additional funding sources they have applied to (if applicable).
