The course will address key topics of animal experimentation such as the use of archiving centers and resources, informatics and Database, phenotyping of mouse strains, and precision medicine using mouse models. The practical part (19-21 September) will be focused on the training of students in embryo manipulation, sperm freezing and in vitro fertilization, which are techniques that are becoming a standard requisite in animal facilities all over the world.
The theoretical part will be held online, 13-15 September and registration for these sessions is open until September 8th.
Topics
The mouse: basic principles of mouse genetics, Mutagenesis approaches (CRISPR/Cas9), Phenotyping, Informatics and Database, The use of mouse disease models as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool, Mouse Sperm Cryopreservation and Recovery, In-Vitro Fertilization, Embryo manipulation.
Participants
Researchers involved in animal experimentation. Admittance to the Course is subject to selection. Preference will be given to junior scientists.
Funding
Participants are expected to cover their own travel costs. Nationals of ICGEB member states selected for the practical course will benefit a grant, covering accommodation (twin share) and local hospitality. Limited travel contribution for the practical course will additionally be available from the local organisers and external sponsors for selected students/junior scientists.
