Abstract
This interactive lesson introduces Science Diplomacy as a strategic bridge between research, international relations, and global biosecurity. Participants will explore the three dimensions of Science Diplomacy and the evolving role of scientists as international actors—advising governments, shaping negotiations, and addressing global risks such as dual-use challenges.
The session will also address how science, development and politics interact within today’s Competitive international landscape, highlighting key issues such as access to knowledge, inequality mitigation, digital innovation and sustainable development. The talk will present ICGEB and the Trieste research hub as the pillars of Italy’s inclusive science diplomacy model, with the aim to promote shared growth and open science.
