Guidelines and Applications ICGEB-JNU PhD Fellowship Programme

The ICGEB-JNU PhD Programme is conducted in three streams: 1. Molecular Medicine, 2. Plant Biology and 3. Integrative Biology and is run exclusively at ICGEB New Delhi.

Eligibility

Candidates with:

  • First class (60% or equivalent grade) M.Sc. in any branch of Science (e.g. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, etc.) or M.Tech. or M.B.B.S. or M.V.Sc. or M.Pharm. or equivalent qualification recognized by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi,
  • and have cleared any one of the following examinations: DBT (I), CSIR, UGC, ICMR, BINC, or any other equivalent Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) examination and fellowships valid for at least four years are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination in the same year may also apply; they will be admitted provisionally pending satisfactory fulfillment of the above requirements at the time of joining.
  • Candidates with only GATE and DBT (II) are NOT eligible. 

Guidelines

Every year applications are invited during the months of March through May via the online portal. Admissions are offered on the basis of the performance in the written examination and interviews conducted at ICGEB, New Delhi.

After admission candidates must successfully complete the Graduate Course work to be eligible for Ph.D. registration. The minimum duration for the Ph.D. is three years. Upon successful completion of the viva voce examination, the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree is awarded by the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.
