ICGEB PhD Fellowships
Closing Date for Applications: 31 MARCH 2022
ICGEB offers postgraduate studies with the aim of obtaining the “Doctor Philosophiae” (PhD) degree in the life sciences. Thanks to specific agreements, the title can be awarded through a number of academic institutions of international standing, which include The Open University (UK) and the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) in Trieste, Italy, the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi and the University of Cape Town in South Africa.

ICGEB SMART Fellowships

In Member States: Scientific Mobility for Advanced Research Training (SMART):The ICGEB SMART Fellowship programme promotes the mobility of researchers between ICGEB Member States as a way of enhancing skill development, acquisition of specific hands-on training in new technologies and increasing bilateral cooperation in science and technology, and should show clear evidence of strong collaboration between the two laboratories.

WE-STAR Fellowships

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the ICGEB have partnered to offer early-career female scientists from the African Continent, mobility fellowships of 6 to 12 months at the ICGEB laboratories in Trieste (Italy), New Delhi (India) and Cape Town (South Africa), to perform research work on biotechnology and related fields, including Health (Infectious Diseases and Non-Communicable Diseases), Sustainable and Effective Agriculture, Industrial Biotechnology and Renewable Energy.
The fellowship includes:
- Stipend, health insurance and travel
- Applying the latest techniques and methodologies to your chosen research topic
- Opportunities for mentoring, peer-to-peer learning and complementary skills
Immersion in a top class international scientific environment

ICGEB-DIC-MOST International Fellowship Program

The IFP offers competitive Short-term Fellowships in the Life Sciences to highly motivated scientists from ICGEB Member States wishing to pursue postgraduate research in China. The Program supports the mobility of researchers to prestigious Chinese laboratories for a period of 6 or 12 months, to benefit from the expertise and technologies available in the receiving laboratories. The IFP Call is managed by the China National Center for Biotechnology Development (CNCBD), with the support of the ICGEB.

ICGEB-JNU PhD Programme
Annual call: MARCH – MAY
In New Delhi: This programme is conducted in three streams: Molecular Medicine, Plant Biology and Integrative Biology. Admissions are offered on the basis of the performance in written examination and interviews conducted at ICGEB New Delhi.
