Biosketch

Miguel Mano graduated in Biochemistry from the University of Coimbra (Portugal) in 2001 and obtained his PhD degree in Biochemistry from the University of Coimbra (Portugal) in 2006, studying the mechanisms of internalization of cell penetrating peptides and their potential application as non-viral gene therapy vectors.
After the PhD, M. Mano worked as a Post-Doctoral fellow (2006-2008) at the Molecular Medicine laboratory of the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB, Trieste, Italy), under the supervision of Prof. Mauro Giacca, focusing his research on the elucidation of the molecular mechanisms underlying cell transduction by gene therapy vectors based on the Adeno-Associated virus.
Starting in 2008, M. Mano has taken the position of Scientific Manager of the High-Throughput Screening (HTS) Facility at the ICGEB Trieste. He was responsible for the initial setting-up of this screening Facility and has been responsible for coordinating the different screening projects with intra- and extra-mural investigators and supervising all the activities performed at the HTS Facility. In 2011 M. Mano became Staff Research Scientist at the ICGEB.
