Scientific Activity

Plasmodium falciparum is a widespread protozoan parasite that causes malaria and is responsible for over a million deaths annually. Our primary focus has been to understand the process of hemoglobin trafficking and its degradation in the parasite food vacuole. We are currently working on leads for new drug development against drug-resistant strains of P. falciparum.
