After sponsorship of the "Drosophila in Biomedical Research: Affordable and Impacting" in Kenya in 2016, the ICGEB is co-organising this Workshop with DrosAfrica with the aim of impacting a wider range of communities on the use of Drosophila in biomedical research in Africa.
Theoretical sessions will take place in the mornings, followed by a discussion session before lunch. Laboratory (practical) sessions will take place in the afternoons.

DrosAfrica has already trained over 50 people from 8 institutions in 5 different countries in Africa. The venue of this Workshop will be the College of Medicine at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria's foremost research and training health institution, with the vision of providing quality health education that drives the development of effective health systems nationwide.

Nigeria has been an ICGEB Member State since 1991. ICGEB grants will be availble for young scientists from its network.
