World Hemophilia Day 2012 - April 17

Close the Gap

The ICGEB joins the international bleeding disorders community on April 17 to mark World Hemophilia Day helping spread the message to "Close the Gap" of care around the world.

The Centre, with laboratories in Trieste, New Delhi and Cape Town, has operated under the UN system for the past 25 years and is committed to undertaking groundbreaking research projects in many areas of human health, infectious, degenerative and genetic diseases, among which hemophilia.

Franco Pagani, Group Leader of the Human Molecular Genetics lab at ICGEB Trieste, together with his team, has recently proven the potential of a therapeutic strategy based on small RNAs in treating three grave genetic diseases: hemophilia, cystic fibrosis and spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).
