Indo-Iran Workshop to Develop Cooperation in Biotechnology

The "Indo-Iran Workshop to Develop Cooperation in Biotechnology" was organised at ICGEB New Delhi on 3-4 August, 2017. Numerous scientists from Indian and Iranian institutes participated in the workshop to discuss collaborative research strategies spanning Agriculture and Medical biotechnology.

The joint research programme may help to solve specific issues in the medical and agriculture sciences, which are common to both countries, and detailed discussions were carried out to develop specific research projects under these broad areas.  

The main organisers of the meeting were Dr. Dinakar M. Salunke, Director, ICGEB New Delhi, Prof. Mohammad R. Zamani, Director-General of NIGEB, Tehran and ICGEB's Appointed Governor for Iran, together with Dr. Pawan Malhotra, Group Leader, Malaria Biology, ICGEB New Delhi and Dr. Asif Mohmmed, Group Leader, Parasite Cell Biology, (ICGEB, New Delhi).

Iran has been a full Member State of ICGEB since 2001.
