S.P. Parihar, PhD student from the Cytokines and Disease Group becomes the first ICGEB Cape Town PhD

The validating entity for the ICGEB PhD degree in molecular genetics and molecular biology, undertaken at ICGEB Cape Town, is awarded by the University of Cape Town, South Africa. The Cape Town Component commenced operation, and enrolment in its PhD Programme in September 2007.

Mr. Suraj P. Parihar, PhD student in the Cytokines and Disease research Group, headed by Frank Brombacher, has successfully brought to completion his PhD studies, on "A role of statins against Listeria monocyogenes and Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection", at the ICGEB Cape Town Component.

News of this academic milestone has been communicated by Frank Brombacher on 25 February 2012, upon receipt of the official confirmation from the Doctoral Degrees Board Office on the University of Cape Town. Mr. Parihar's official graduation is expected in June 2012.

The ICGEB Pre-doctoral Fellowships and International PhD Programme can be awarded by a number of validating entitites of national and international level.
