ICGEB Biosafety Workshop, 19-23 September 2011

"Problem Formulation: A Strategic Approach to Risk Assessment of GMOs", ICGEB Trieste, Italy

In collaboration with the Italian Ministry for the Environment, ICGEB ran its annual Biosafety Workshop in Trieste this week.

The programme foresees talks and interractive sessions on problem formulation and regulation of GMOs.

The ICGEB Biosafety Unit currently comprises:

The ICGEB Biosafety Unit at the Cape Town Component organizes practical workshops, offers fellowships and provides funds to encourage participation in regional and international conferences, developing and fostering links with the international scientific community.

Since 2008, more than 100 scientists and regulators from Sub-Saharan Africa have been trained at workshops and numerous participants have attended regional and international conferences, such as the International Symposium on the Biosafety of Genetically Modified Organisms (ISBGMO) and the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity Serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Cartaena Protocol on Biosaety (COP-MOP).
