EMBO jointly sponsors ICGEB Workshop on Human RNA viruses

EMBO Workshop on Human RNA viruses
jointly sponsored by ICGEB,
Istanbul, TURKEY, 6-8 October 2014

Viruses continue to evolve and emerge. Most viral diseases that pose epidemic threats are RNA viruses, including the re-emerging Ebola virus in Africa. The ICGEB Workshop on Human RNA Viruses is organized every two years by Alessandro Marcello, Group Leader, Molecular Virology and Oscar Burrone, Group Leader, Molecular Immunology, ICGEB Trieste and is dedicated to bridging the gap between recent advances in molecular and cellular biology of human RNA viruses and the needs of those most affected by these diseases.

The workshop was launched in 2008 at ICGEB Trieste, Italy and has taken place in New Delhi (2010) and in Buenos Aires (2012) with the aim of facilitating participation from scientists in these geographical areas.

This year the Workshop, held in Istanbul, Turkey from 3 to 6 October, is jointly sponsored by EMBO and ICGEB. Local organizers Önder Ergönül and Füsun Can (Koç University, Istanbul, Turkey) have made a great effort in organizing the event together with the ICGEB and EMBO. Around one hundred participants from ICGEB Member and non-Member States will gather in beautiful Istanbul for three days of science.
