UK-India sustainable bioenergy research funding awarded to ICGEB Delhi


ICGEB Delhi has received funding in the context of £4M awarded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council BBSRC, UK and the Department of Biotechnology DBT, India to UK-India partnerships in synthetic biology biofuels initiatives.

Syed Shams Yazdani, Synthetic Biology and Biofuels lab, ICGEB New Delhi will lead a collaborative project with Prof. Nigel Minton, University of Nottingham, UK, to engineer enzymes, bacteria and bioconversion processes to help produce advanced biofuels from waste rice straw.

The project will receive GBP 1.4M from BBSRC with matched resources from DBT.
